We're digitizing the construction industry – and we're looking for senior engineers who want to build, not just maintain.
VESTIGAS is a fast-growing B2B SaaS scale-up. 14 of the top 20 construction companies and 17 of the top 20 suppliers in Germany are already our customers. Our order, delivery note, and invoice volumes are growing faster than our architecture – and that's exactly what you're here to fix.
We're hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join one of our feature teams as a senior contributor. You'll own architecture, write production code, mentor the team, and lift the technical bar of everything we build.
Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d)
München (Hybrid)
Full-time
Permanent employee
We're digitizing the construction industry – and we're looking for you to help write the next chapter.
Your Role
Senior Engineer with builder mentality – not a manager. You join one of our feature teams end-to-end: from inbound requirements with product, through architecture and implementation, to live deployment and ongoing operations. You write code, you mentor, you make architectural decisions that still hold up in two years.
You'll work with Python (FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy), PostgreSQL, Azure, and a microservices architecture in the making. Hybrid setup with minimum 2 days per week at our office in central Munich.
This is a high-performance environment – we care about both quality AND output. If "good enough that ships" beats "perfect that never ships" for you, you'll feel at home.

Your Mission
- Contribute to the design and further development of our platform's backend architecture, with a focus on performance, scalability, security, and long-term maintainability as we continue to scale.
- Join one of our feature teams end-to-end: turn inbound product requirements into production-ready solutions – develop, test, deploy, operate.
- Take ownership of solving challenging technical problems with high-quality, pragmatic code – delivering impactful solutions while maintaining a strong focus on individual contributions.
- Drive continuous improvement of our engineering practices, architecture, tooling, and infrastructure (testing, CI/CD, observability, code reviews).
- Mentor and lift the team – share knowledge generously, sharpen others through code reviews, and bring a builder mentality to everything you ship.
- Contribute to innovation by exploring new technologies, initiating product ideas, and building integrations with strategic external partners.
Your Benefits
- Real architecture ownership – shape the next 2–3 years of our backend, not just maintain what's there
- Senior Engineer role without manager burden – lead technically, no 1:1s, no HR cycles
- Direct line to the CTO and founders – flat hierarchies, fast decisions, real responsibility
- High-performance environment – high bar on quality AND output, with people who care about both
- Modern stack and AI-first workflow – Copilot, Claude, Cursor are part of how we work, not an afterthought
- Beautiful office in central Munich, hybrid model with min. 2 days/week onsite
- Construction site visits – you see where your code actually lands
- Included gym membership, team events, offsites, and the usual scale-up perks
- Stable home for builders – we hire for long-term impact, not 18-month stints
Your Profile
Must haves:
- You hold a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field – ideally with a Master's degree (strong Bachelor + experience also welcome).
- You bring 3+ years of relevant experience in backend development in production systems, ideally across multiple roles in startups, scale-ups or big tech environments.
- You have experience with scalable microservice architectures – or deliberate experience with modular monoliths and a clear sense of when to split.
- You enjoy working end-to-end: from shaping ideas and architecture to implementing production-ready solutions – writing clean, modular, and well-tested code.
- You bring a builder mentality – you write code, mentor others, share knowledge generously, and thrive in a team. You're pragmatic, not academic – "good enough that ships" beats "perfect that never ships."
- You communicate clearly and can break down complex topics for product and business stakeholders.
- You put AI agents and tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor) to work on the tasks they're built for, and focus on the work only humans can do.
- You are fluent in German and English (C1+ in both).
- You are willing to work from our Munich office at least two times per week
Nice to have:
- Deep Python expertise with production experience in complex systems (FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy)
- AWS-stack experience (RDS, ECS/Fargate, Lambda, SQS) and event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Tech Lead or mentoring experience (without formal management responsibility)
- Open-source contributions or a meaningful GitHub profile
- B2B SaaS integrations or ERP-world experience
- Domain knowledge: construction, logistics, supply chain, B2B documents
Why us?
- Take the opportunity to help shape a growing scale-up and have a measurable impact on our product's architecture.

- Work with a team experienced both in product development and our target industries.
- Direct line to the CTO and founders – flat hierarchies, fast decisions.
- AI-first engineering culture: Copilot, Claude, Cursor are part of the workflow.
- High-performance environment with a high bar on both quality AND output – for people who like to ship and ship well.
- Perks such as construction site visits, included gym membership, beautiful Goetheplatz office, team offsites.
- All the additional benefits of a scale-up: flat hierarchies, flexible working hours, real responsibility, hybrid work model (min. 2 days/week in our Munich office), cool team events.
